The post Prepping for Your Quinceanera: How to Eat Healthy (not Heavy) first appeared on Q By DaVinci Blog.
]]>Have you see the post in Women’s Health of the woman in 6 totally different sizes that all fit her just the same? She’s a counselor for teen and pre-teens and every day she hears things like girls asking if the boyfriend would have stayed if she were skinnier. That’s terribly sad, and we don’t want you falling into that trap.
The good news is that, when you shop for your Quinceanera gown, the “sample size” you try on will have nothing whatsoever to do with the real size of the dress once it’s altered. It probably won’t even have a size tag!
By the way, you can read that post about the pant sizes in two different places (and we highly recommend it!):
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DeenaShoemaker/posts/10211469655803883
Women’s Health: http://www.womenshealthmag.com/life/pant-sizes
A Latino diet is usually heavy on carbs, particularly beans and rice. Neither of those will make you heavy if you watch the portions and if you go easy on the corn and wheat in tortillas and tacos. (Have you ever thought to eat the filling alone without the wrapper? Try it!) But there are other foods that are better for you that you might need to ask your mom to buy at the store.
You can also ask for a little section of the fridge and kitchen that’s “yours” like the back corner of one shelf in the fridge and a basket of healthy treats somewhere in the kitchen like a cupboard or maybe even on top of the fridge.
It’s pretty much common sense to have an apple instead of a bag of chips, but there are a lot of quick foods that are good for you. If you know in advance what the better choice is, it’s easier to make it.
Here’s a terrific article on 18 healthy snacks—and a lot of them are portable for your purse or packable in an insulated lunch box: http://lindseyreviews.com/18-best-snacks-for-weight-loss/
Again, we’re talking about your part of the cupboard—whatever you can control. You can’t insist that your mom not buy cookies and sweet cereal for your siblings, but you can ask her not to buy them for you.
You might already know, but “empty calories” refers to things that have calories but very little nutrition. Classic empty calorie foods are soda, chips of any kind, cookies, candy, cake and (sorry) french fries.
Once you’ve dumped your part of the cupboard—or at least put some blinders on so you don’t see what’s there that your kid brother can scarf down without gaining an ounce—you’ll need to have things on hand that are healthy.
Referring back to that article above (18-best-snacks-for-weight-loss) some things that you can keep in your purse or backpack are walnuts, Wheat Thins, kale chips and (believe it or not) Cheerios. Good stuff for your lunch and to keep in your section of the fridge include Greek yogurt, grapes, apples and cheese
Just because you choose “juice” instead of soda in the school cafeteria or on the run does not mean you’ve chosen more wisely. Learn to read labels and, again, get educated. For instance, some “healthy” teas and juices in have as many calories—and sometimes just as much sugar or worse, the dreaded high fructose corn syrup—as that can of soda you didn’t buy.
One thing that’s almost a sure bet is a small bottle of milk or a veggie drink like V8. Milk has protein, and while V8 can be a little salty, the calorie count is great for the quantity. Stay away from the fruit smoothies altogether if you want to watch calories, and read the labels on the veggie smoothies. Some have just as much fruit as greens, but some are really packed well with greens and just enough fruit to make them taste good. The true veggie smoothies are fabulous for both your taste buds and your waistline.
Did you know that nutritionists say to eat at least 10% of your daily food as fresh veggies? They’re also easy to pack when you’re planning to snack at places like the movies. Just take a baggie filled with baby carrots, celery sticks, and cherry tomatoes.
Not that into veggies, but you’ll eat them with a dip? Go for it—just make the dip something healthy like Greek yogurt veggie dip for just about anything and use fresh ground peanut butter on celery sticks.
You can also get a cream cheese blend with Greek yogurt mixed into the cream cheese. Add some flavoring like onion soup mix, and you’ve got a great dip that’s also got protein (the Greek yogurt/cream cheese mix has 4 grams of protein in a serving).
If you don’t like peanut butter or for some reason, peanuts tend to plump you up, then get almond butter.
“If you want to grow thinner, diminish your dinner.” That’s an old quote by H.S. Leigh. But how do you do this? There are a bunch of ways:
Just because everybody wants to go get a pizza doesn’t mean you can’t go. It just means you choose a side salad before you have the pizza and then have one slice only or just a couple of small squares.
Also, going back to the “chew well” theory, trust us: If you learn to “chew pizza really well” you’ll taste it and won’t need to scarf down a lot more!
If you do a search, you’ll find a lot of info on people who have lost a ton of weight just by not eating fast food at all. They actually eat more at home, but because it’s more nutritious and doesn’t have all the preservatives and junk in it, their homemade food doesn’t pack on the pounds.
You can get your friends to do this—with your folks’ help—by having that pizza party at home with a make-your-own-pizza theme. Then you can control the portions plus what goes on your half.
And if your friends want to have high fructose or diet soda, just make the party BYOB—bring your own beverage!
This sounds like a lot of hard work, but it does get easier. Just take the time to look at ingredients lists, and after a while, you’ll get a feel for it. Here are a few tips:
Tough but True Tip: If you eliminate high fructose corn syrup alone your metabolism will improve. Yes, that means you’ll “totally give up” a lot of stuff—for a little while. After you’ve skipped the high fructose for awhile, you won’t like the taste of things made with it.
You don’t have to starve yourself to maintain a healthy weight or spend every waking hour in the gym or running or whatever, and you don’t have to go vegan to be all-around healthy. Just follow these tips, and you’ll see a lot of improvement in how you feel overall.

]]>The post Spin Pin your Way to Gorgeous DIY Quinceanera Hair first appeared on Q By DaVinci Blog.
]]>Spin pins are handy little gadgets that will hold even the finest hair in place. You can get them at your local beauty supply store, at a drugstore with a good hair accessory selection, and you can order them online from eBay and Amazon. They come in different colors to match or contrast with your hair color—black, brown, gold, pink gold, and silver, depending on where you search—and some are available with a built-in accessory like a flower:
… or a pearl:
Starting note: You do not need a ponytail holder—just 2 spin pins!
Important: Do not let the pins overlap inside your hair or else they’ll be very stubborn to take out.
To remove the pins: Spin the pins out counter-clockwise—never just tug on them.
You can make a messy bun either higher or lower depending on where you start the ponytail.
Here’s the photo tutorial for that lower messy bun:
For this, you’ll need 4 spin pins, but you can see how to do it just from the photo:
Note: This style works a little better if your hair is thicker. You can also create the buns as close together as you like, then tuck in some flowers or other hair decoration.
This style works really well with short hair. Use 2 spin pins per bun and if you need to, add a few bobby pins to hold any errant strands in place.
Here’s the full photo tutorial: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/220394975494947441/
BONUS!: Here’s a list of 21 spin pin hairdos! (We’ll highlight some of our favorites below.)
Keep one generous strand of hair at the front before you make your ponytail. Gather your hair, pin it into the bun, then create the braid and pin it around.
This is the same idea as the braid, except you’ll keep two strands at the front and then twist and pin them instead of braiding.
You do need one ponytail holder for this, but that’s just to get you started. You’ll still create the starter bun with the spin pin, then use pins to hold the wrapped strands in place.
This one is so easy, who needs written instructions?!
The trick here again is not to gather all the hair into the bun but instead, leave two strands on either side, then wrap them up and over the bun.
These are just too easy and too pretty! You can make pins to match your Quince theme or just use one color flower or beads. Here’s the tutorial: http://thespohrsaremultiplying.com/hair/diy-jeweled-spin-pins/#axzz4VrOQQoRx

]]>No matter how beautiful your dress, if your shoulders aren’t squared, and your head held high, you’re going to look—well, slumpy in your photos! It’s not difficult to master better posture if you know the right things to do.
Here’s a link to a great set of exercises to help you square up your shoulders in no time:
No matter the height of your Quinceanera heels, there are a few rules when it comes to walking gracefully. For instance, always walk heel-to-toe just like you would in flats. Then take a tip from runway models by placing one foot front of the other almost in a straight line.
Here are two really helpful guides for walking like a princess in those beautiful new heels:
Here’s a great tutorial for how to walk in heels including tips if it’s your first time:

The great news is, even though these are ballet exercises, there’s no ballet experience required!

While most Quinceanera bouquets are rounded nosegays, you might choose something a little different for your flowers. Make sure to ask your florist the best way to hold your flowers but here are some basic guidelines to get you started:

Getting in and out of a car while wearing a Quinceanera dress with a giant hoop skirt is a challenge. Getting in isn’t so bad because you’ll have your back to the photographer. Getting out is a whole other thing altogether. The big trick is to keep your knees together, rotate on your hipbones, and have someone hold your hand to help you out.
Here’s a darling tutorial that includes “striking a pose”

Unless yours is a very small reception and your cake is more like a birthday cake, your caterer or someone else will be responsible for slicing the cake into portions. Either way, you’ll still be responsible for cutting the first piece as a symbol of your young adult status and believe or not, there’s a “correct way” to do this too!
Fun Warning: Watching this video may give you a craving for a chunk of cake now!

Every time you shake someone’s hand, you’re giving an impression, and at your Quinceanera, you’ll want to give the impression that you’re sincere. You’ll also be hugging and kissing family and friends, and believe it or not, there are right and wrong ways to do that!

You wouldn’t think you’d need advice on how to use the ladies room—unless you’re wearing a dress that’s almost wider than the doorway! If your Quinceanera gown is 2-piece, it’s probably easy to step out of the skirt for a moment. But if the skirt is attached—sit down “facing forward!”

Would you believe there’s a wrong way to butter and eat a dinner roll? Yep! And it has everything to do with the size of the piece you tear off. As a finishing touch to our Perfect Princess Quinceanera guide, check out this video, then have fun on your big day!

]]>The post Quinceanera Manicures: Do’s & Dont’s for 2016 first appeared on Q By DaVinci Blog.
]]>As cute and fancy as they may seem, these manicures just do not work. Not only are they outrageously overpriced, but they will seriously downgrade your look. And in spite of how expensive they are, they can actually make you look cheap!
If you’re seriously in love with the look and just have to have it, then get just one nail done and leave the rest of your nails a one solid neutral color.
Yes, this look is a classic, but the pink and white—or nude and white—just doesn’t cut in in 2016. But what does rock is the French tip style in either a dark or bright color then add a metallic tip!
Never mind Rihanna and everyone else—if you want super-long nails, try the new coffin shape or the traditional square end.
Here are some manicures that give a visually textured look without the overdone gyura trinkets:
This beautiful design is an attention getter in all the right ways.
Who wouldn’t love marble? Especially if you’re having a marble cake, consider a marble design on just one nail to add some personality without overpowering your total look.
Celebrate the season of your Quince with one or two nails hand painted with a floral. For the winter holidays, you could do a poinsettia, for spring add a daisy, and any time of the year would be beautiful with a rose in your favorite color.
Perhaps the easiest way to glam up your nails without a pricey design job is to choose any shade you love in one of the new textures:
Velvet polish adds texture to your nails without being over the top. This polish is lovely if you embellish just one nail with a rhinestone or two.
Shiny gel is out. Matte is in. This new trend will intensify any color you choose and is also lovely with just the faintest touch of glitz.
As we said before, the classic French style with a contrasting tip is lovely. Just go for something more exciting like a lighter base and darker tips, or combine a dark color base and a lighter color tip. And a soft shade with a metallic tip? Stunning!
Just like with your dress, skin tone matters when it comes to choosing nail polish. Here are some general guidelines that you may already know, but keep them in mind if you choose a multi-colored look:
Because every skin tone can wear at least one shade of red, check out this guide for reds based on skin tone. The blog also lists specific brands and shade names to check out the next time you go to the mall: http://www.makeup.com/best-red-nail-polish-for-skin-tone/?utm_campaign=organic_syndicated&utm_term=Guide&utm_content=Nail-Polish-Guide-The-Very-Best-Reds-for-Your-Skin-Tone%2F&utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=social&crlt.pid=camp.rXcVF0jogK6i
If you want to have some fun shopping Pinterest looks, check out these manicure keywords:
We realize that artificial nails are an easy out, but they’re also expensive and will damage your cuticles.
Shop around for a good vitamin and mineral supplement to help strengthen your nails. You can also buy a replenishing oil or a formula that either thickens or prevents splitting. There are plenty of treatments to choose from that will make your nails healthy, and the results will last far longer than your Quinceanera day!
Be sure to include proteins like fish and beans, and also antioxidants like those found in blueberries. A diet rich in these elements will give your nails a lift from the inside.
You can get a pricey salon look with store-bought tips and appliques. For a fraction of the cost of a salon job, these are a great accessory to add a little glamor and are super easy to apply. Be sure to use a top coat on both tips and appliques to make them last longer.
Obviously, you want your manicure to stand out, especially if your family is giving you a beautiful ring, but the last thing you want is to look tacky. So if you want Swarovski crystals, use just a few of them on only one or two fingers, but not all your nails.
And if you’re a glitter girl through and through, but want something a little different, then consider a glitter ombre manicure.

]]>The post Your Guide to the Top 6 Quinceanera Hairdo’s for 2016 first appeared on Q By DaVinci Blog.
]]>Quinceanera hairdo trends follow closely on the heels of current wedding hairstyles. Sometimes Quinceanera updo’s are more elaborate than wedding styles, but even if you decide to keep your look simple, choosing the hairstyle for your big day is still an important decision. Whether you hire a professional stylist or ask a close friend or relative to do your hair, you’ll still need to make sure your hairstyle suits your dress and flatters your facial features. So let’s take a look at today’s hottest hairstyle trends and see which one will be perfect for your 2016 Quinceanera celebration!
Recently, buns have been trending, and celebrities are wearing braided buns and half buns to special events. Buns are perfect if you have long hair and either want to show off that lovely sweetheart neckline of your gown or just keep your hair off your shoulders because your Quinceanera falls during the warmer months. Even if your hair is short, buns are adaptable to almost any length and type of hair and are especially lovely if you have highlights.
The one downside to a bun that’s more structured is that you might need to touch it up more often, but that just gives you the perfect excuse to wear that gorgeous hair comb or set of crystal spin pins, doesn’t it? Also, a high bun is perfect to show off your beautiful Quinceanera tiara.
As a general guideline, necklines that go well with buns include boat neck, high collar styles like a Queen Anne neckline, as well as off the shoulder and strapless gowns. But because the basic bun has dozens of variations to choose from, and because a bun does work very well with almost everyone’s hair, the final decision comes down to what you want for your total look.
Loose updos have been trending as “messy” hairdo’s and are perfect if you want a dressy look that requires fewer touchups than a fixed style like a bun. This type of hairstyle is a snap if you have wavy hair, and is perfect to show off any number of gorgeous accessories. Adding a little bouffant lift to the crown will also beautifully highlight your tiara.
This style of hairdo will play up highlights, both natural and created. So if you color your hair, make sure to have a touch up a few weeks before your Quinceanera day. Loose updos are fun to play around with to see how loose or structured you prefer. Also, have some fun experimenting with curls at the ends or as side tendrils.
Side hairdos, both updos and those with hair down, are wonderful to balance out asymmetrical dress necklines and highlight beautiful shoulders. If you prefer a more bohemian vibe, try a side swept fishtail braid.
Any side swept hairdo will probably need a little retouching every few hours so pack your emergency kit with plenty hairspray and pins. Also, this hairstyle works a bit better for indoor Quinceaneras because unless you’re comfortable using a lot of pins and hairspray, the wind can sometimes wreak havoc.
Tip: Check out this DIY tutorial for a stunning side fishtail pony. https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/kassinka-11310925/festive-side-ponytail-hair-tutorial-4673665157
If you think that shorter hair gives you fewer options, think again! Short curly hair with lots of volume is wonderful to work with, and short hair that’s straighter can be stunning when styled in a sleek ‘do. Short hairstyles work well with most necklines including an illusion, a bateau, or even a halter.
Perhaps the best thing about shorter hair is that you can usually pat sleek hair back into place and use just your fingers to fluff the curls, making it perfect for any indoor or outdoor Quinceanera and especially for those hot summer months!
Find all these ponytail hairdos here: http://stayglam.com/beauty/elegant-ponytail-hairstyles/2/
Ponytails are perfect for any venue, and most will last straight through from the beginning of your Mass until you wave goodbye to the last guest leaving the reception. All it takes to make a ponytail elegant and glamorous is a little backcombing and few strategic hairpins or bobby pins. An occasional touch up with hairspray is probably all you’ll need.
If your hair is long, try a half pony with side braids. This look is beautiful with V and cowl necklines. If you want to experiment more, a fishtail braided pony makes for a charming princess look.
Check out this tutorial on how to make any ponytail look awesome in only 5 minutes! http://www.mindblowingvideos.com/how-come-i-never-knew-this-i-have-been-tying-my-hair-the-wrong-way-all-this-while.html?h=1
Trending now is the bubble ponytail, a look inspired by the designer Valentino for a runway show. You can keep it simple, or you can spice it up with braids and hair accessories. Here’s a link to a DIY tutorial for a braid wrapped bubble ponytail plus 14 other gorgeous styles:
If you’re not keen on wearing your hair up for whatever reason, then just let your lovely locks hang loose! Long or short, down hairdos go beautifully with tube top dresses as well as any gown that has simple lines and a lightly embellished bodice. They can also be dramatic with a V-neck dress. For alluring elegance, add gentle waves. For a hip feel, part your hair slightly off center and add a few curls down the sides.
Some girls also prefer a down hairdo with a strapless or off the shoulder dress because they feel more comfortable having a bit of their shoulders covered.
Depending on the length of your hair and whether it’s curly or straight, you may need a few quick fixes, especially after the choreographed dances and for sure at the height of the dance party.
Hint: Why not pack a few bobby pins, a ponytail holder, or some other comb or clip in your emergency kit? Then if you decide at some point to get your hair out of your way, you can put it up in a snap!
Final Tip: Grow It, Fake It or Extend It
Many celebrants choose to grow their hair out especially for their Quinceanera in order to have more styling options and to make whatever style they already prefer all the more glamorous. If growing your hair out isn’t an option—perhaps if you simply prefer your hair shorter, or you’re planning your Quinceanera at the last minute—there are plenty of choices to make your hairdo more dramatic.
You can sweep any length hair up into a high ponytail or bun then add a faux bun to make a bouffant look. You could purchase some quality clip-in extensions, maybe in a color to complement your dress, or you could go with some type of more customized hair extension.
Important: While hair extensions can be a fantastic option, make sure you research carefully and check with your parents first. Read this link for some excellent professional advice: http://www.hairextensions.com/clip_in_hair_extensions.html
Many of the hairstyles trending today for Quinceaneras and other dressy events are really easy to DIY, but you’ll still need to practice. Professional stylists can give you some pointers, but be sure to check with your parents before you plan anything like extensions or expensive highlights or even a style that will make you look drastically different from your everyday self.
Also, plan at least a couple of full practice sessions with your dress, hair, and makeup so that on the big day, everything goes smoothly. Remember, too: You do not have to copy a celebrity hairstyle or buy pricey extensions or do anything else radical to your hair in order to look beautiful for your Quinceanera. Enhancing and bringing out your inner beauty through lovely, age appropriate hair and makeup is what really counts!

]]>The post Your 6 Step Guide to Beautiful & Youthful Quinceanera Makeup first appeared on Q By DaVinci Blog.
]]>Before you even think about pinning that amazing eyeshadow look or that out of this world lipstick color, remember this keyword: Youthful. You want your personal beauty to shine though, not be hidden under layers of foundation, contouring and, well, goop! Remember too, especially if you’re celebrating a Quinceanera Mass before your reception, you want to project an air of respect and modesty. Probably the best tip we could give you is to look at “natural” makeup styles for brides as a starting point, then add your favorite flashy Quinceanera eyeshadow look and perhaps a lipstick color that really pops.
Knowing the best kind of makeup look for your Quinceanera requires you to really know your face. Let’s have a look at 3 key factors:
To do this easy test, click here:
There’s a better reason that Quinceaneras are often planned a year in advance than just picking out the perfect place setting: You need time to get your skin into its best possible condition.
If you’re not sure of your skin type, or if you need help establishing a good skin care regimen, you have lots of options. You can scout the internet for links to self-help skin analysis tutorials or go to a good makeup artist or esthetician. If you feel your skin needs more attention, or you know for sure you need some help with breakouts or troublesome skin condition, visit a dermatologist.
You could even ask your parents if, instead of the pricier tiara or fancier dress, they would pay for you to visit a professional to learn how to take really good care of your skin. You can be sure they’ll be proud of you for asking for something that will really last: A beautiful, healthy complexion!
Tip: If you want a truly detailed analysis, check out this link: https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/whats-your-myers-briggs-skin-type-191230178.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=pi
You may already have a pretty good idea of which makeup colors look good on you and which absolutely do not. For instance, maybe you borrowed your friend’s raspberry nail color or lipstick—that totally rocks on her—only to find out it looks totally weird on you. Or you thought that beautiful persimmon orange blush would be great—but it either stood out on your face like clown paint or disappeared completely. Those are clues that you either have a yellow undertone to your skin (which is why the raspberry didn’t work) or blue undertones (so now you stay away from orange).
Most girls fall into 3 major skin tone categories: Cool, Warm, and Neutral. But there are variations on these, and there is always an exception to the rule. And if there’s one day in your life when you absolutely must wear the right colors for your skin tone, it’s your Quinceanera!
Important: You really need to know the best colors for your skin tone before you go shopping for your dress!
So do a little research. Look online for ideas on how to find your skin tone, and also give serious consideration to getting a free makeover from a makeup artist at your local department store. She’ll be able to tell you, pretty much right off the bat, your exact skin shade, your undertone, and what colors will look fabulous on you and which colors to stay away from.
Tip: Here’s a fun, free color analysis to help you find your best colors. http://www.colormepretty.co/categories-2/4-season-color-analysis/
Check out the tutorial for this method here: http://bellashoot.tumblr.com/post/135060011716/dot-to-dot-highlighter-contour-blush-on
Once again, your local department store makeup artist may be your best helper when it comes to balancing your features by contouring or strobing (the new technique that uses only highlighter). You need to know which features you want to play up, and which features you want to correct.
If you’re overly conscious about your nose that you feel is a little crooked, or your cheeks that seem too full, then a little contouring will definitely help. If you just love your eyes but feel that your lips are too thin, then learn how to play up your eye makeup and also find lipstick tricks to make your lips look plumper.
While hiring a professional makeup artist for your Quinceanera can be of tremendous value, don’t let him or her make all the decisions for you. Learn enough to be able to give your own suggestions.
Now that you have an idea of what colors look best and which features you want to play up, it’s time to look for makeup styles that you like. Choose 4 or 5 pegs and add notes on specific details that you like, then visit a makeup artist for ideas. You don’t need to find a photo of the one perfect face with all the details you want. Just collect a handful of the looks that most appeal to you, like maybe the flirty fake lashes in one look and the dewy highlighting in another.
And while you might not have all these details included in your personal Quinceanera makeup look—because using everything might be overwhelming—at least you’ll have a pretty good idea of what elements appeal to you. Then you and your makeup artist can decide which ones to prioritize.
Your Quinceanera is a party, which means there will be a lot of moving and grooving—and probably a little crying once in a while, like when you dance with you dad or your favorite padrino makes a speech.
The last thing you want is for your makeup to run or blotch, so make a special note to tell your makeup artist to use only waterproof and sweatproof makeup. If you’re going to DIY, read labels very carefully. Not only will you not have to worry about happy tears or lively dancing, but you’ll also need fewer touch-ups. Then you can have fun without worrying about raccoon eyes or that your face is starting to look shiny for all those candid professional photos and selfies with friends.
Also, don’t forget to factor in the weather and where you’ll have your reception. If your Quinceanera party is an outdoor fiesta, you might need greater sweat-proof protection. If it’s indoors in air-conditioning, a little moisturizer can help keep your face looking dewy and young and not develop those little fine lines due to powdered makeup creasing from your skin drying. Maybe worse than shiny skin, the last thing you want is “fine lines” when you’re only 15!
HD makeup (high definition) is all the rage now. The advances in technology can make photos and videos so sharp that you can practically see every pore! HD makeup is a special formulation that scatters light and makes your skin look flawless and smooth even when projected on HD screens and monitors. It’s a must that you try out HD makeup early on to make sure you don’t have a reaction and to find out which shades are best.
Tip: You might find that clear HD powder alone—used over your regular foundation—is enough to scatter the light. You can always do a few selfies to see how it works. You might even like the clear powder enough for everyday use if it doesn’t look too heavy!
The best face to make gorgeous with makeup is a clean face—by “clean” we mean smooth, bump free skin with very few dark spots or blotches—and that’s not something you can achieve overnight. It will take you at least several weeks to condition your skin to make it look its natural best on the day of your Quinceanera.
So treat your skin like a princess would. Get good advice on a skin care regimen and visit a dermatologist especially if you have stubborn acne or sensitive skin that’s prone to allergic reactions or other unpleasant issues. Get into the habit of getting enough sleep now so come Quinceanera day, you’ll have less risk of dark circles or puffy eyes. Eat healthily and exercise, not just for your figure, but also to make your skin glow. And don’t forget those eight glasses of water a day. Water helps flush toxins and helps to keep your skin hydrated.
At the end of the day, the best kind of makeup for your Quinceanera is one that lets your natural beauty shine through. You may have some trouble spots covered up and some features like your beautiful cheekbones highlighted, but you still want to look like yourself—your most beautiful self.
They say beauty is only skin deep and in many ways that’s true. What really makes a woman truly beautiful is confidence. So take these months and weeks before your Quinceanera to learn as much as you can. Then you’ll have confidence that you’re the best Quinceanera you can be!

]]>Be sure to allow enough time to decide how you want to style and accessorize your hair. Starting a few months before your Quinceanera day, begin researching pins and scouting hair magazines at your local salon. Check out popular magazines for the latest hairstyles of celebrities you admire, then look for video tutorials on how to create and master the looks you like best. Ask your mom or your sister—and for sure your damas—for tips and tricks they might know when it comes to hair. Scout your local beauty supply store and ask for advice on any special hair products you might need so that once you start practicing everything goes smoothly.
Here are some tips and tricks for fun and fashionable hairstyles and accessories that never go out style. A lot of these looks are something you can adapt for special occasions before your Quinceanera like church or a school dance, so you’ll have plenty of chances to practice. Then, come Quinceanera day, doing your hair will be a breeze!
Whether you want to wear your hair down, in a bun, or in a super easy half-up hairdo, a few flowers would be lovely. A floral wreath can be taken off when it’s time to put on your tiara, while both a floral comb and tiny flowers or baby’s breath tucked into your hairdo can stay throughout the festivities.
For the longest lasting look, choose dried or silk flowers rather than fresh flowers that will wilt from the heat of your scalp. (The one exception to this rule is fresh baby’s breath—it’ll hold up the entire day and beyond!) Choose colors to match your theme, and also tuck some of the silk flowers you choose for your hair into your bouquet and even your centerpieces for a pretty touch of continuity. Once again, this is where baby’s breath comes in handy because it’ll work anywhere—even dried baby’s breath in the bouquet you leave at the altar during the Mass.
Three important tips:

This gorgeous look can be accented with flowers. If you like braids, this is an easy look because there are only a few steps involved. You just section the hair, braid each piece, make a knot, secure it in place, and repeat.

Who said that short hair has fewer styling options? There are plenty of trendy styles to choose from. You can go simple with some mousse and hairspray and a pretty accessory, or you can create a very elegant messy mini bun.
If you wear your hair in a short bob, try a Dutch braid, also known as a summer braid. You just braid the sides and pin them at the back. Add a sparkly accessory to secure the side braids in place. A healthy dose of hairspray is also recommended.

This hairstyle is too pretty for words. If your Quince falls in “the love month” of February, or you want to go with a heart theme for your Quince, carry the theme into your hair! A heart bun will look lovely with a sweetheart neckline and is stunning for a strapless or off the shoulder dress. If you’re blessed with volume and natural curls, this look will be easy for you. All you need is bobby pins, 2 ponytail holders, a comb and a curling wand if you want it.

If your Quinceanera falls during one of the hot summer months, try a simple bun that’s made from several loops. A low bun will keep your hair off your shoulders and is perfect for tucking in a stunning comb, a few crystal spin pins, or some tiny flowers. It really is as simple as it looks. All it takes is clear elastic ponytail holders, bobby pins, and hair spray.
Hint: There are 2 tricks to this hairstyle.
The 1960s was a unique era fashion-wise, and it’s not popular with everyone. However, full bouffant hairdo’s and variations such as half-up are a hot trend in weddings that are also stunning for a Quinceanera. Pretty much any hair decoration will work, anything from floral wreaths to crystal combs to scads of baby’s breath or sparkly spin pins. So if you find a little touch of backcombing to be a nice fashion comeback (pun intended!), but a full bouffant feels like too much, consider a half-bouffant.
The bouffant technique is pretty simple. All it involves is a little backcombing, which can also be done with a brush for a softer effect. Here’s a great tutorial for a half-bouffant technique (end result shown in the photo above) that’s simple enough to wear to school if you want: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/28921622580960982/
There are literally hundreds of hairstyle variations you can also try out, so pick one you want then practice until it’s perfect every time.
