How far out of the box can you think? Our team came up with way too many ideas for just one blog, so check out these Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 3 ideas.

Here’s our last shot at the best original and unusual Quinceanera themes we could find. For sure you’ll find an idea that’s interesting, charming, and makes your Quinceanera day all about you!

To get details on specifics like invitations and outfits and decorations, just type in a search using our keyword and include a search for “party” in that theme. For instance, search both for “retro theme Quinceanera” and “retro theme party.” It couldn’t be easier!

Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 3

22. Retro Revival

Be a hippie for a day! Make a peace symbol and rainbow photo booth, and even have a tie dye cake. Carry a bouquet of tie dye roses, then take a simple white Quinceanera dress and add a pop of rainbow color by adding flowers or a rainbow underskirt!

Here’s a tutorial on DIY tie dye socks that will work for t-shirts, table runners, and just about any long fabric you want to use for your Quince: http://ilovetocreateblog.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-make-tie-dye-rainbow-socks.html

23. A Rainbow of Balloons

If you love the rainbow colors of a Retro theme, but want to stay more traditional, make balloons your Quinceanera theme. Balloons are fabulous because they’re easy to work with, everybody loves them, and the price couldn’t be more perfect! Add ribbon and paperweights for balloon centerpieces, position a balloon arch at your venue entrance or over your head table, and for one of the most creative photo backdrops ever, make a balloon wall for photo ops.

Here’s a great DIY blog on how to make a wall using different styles of balloons: http://lessonslearntjournal.com/balloon-wall/

24. Renaissance Flair

Add a touch of the classy Renaissance era to your Quince with long banquet seating and plenty of pearls.

Hint, hint: See how lovely the dance is even though it’s not perfect?!

25. Be a Sport

Show off your athletic side and bring your sport into your Quince. Decorate according to the game you love, serve treats like at a sports park, and be sure to take portraits of you in your Quinceanera dress standing on the playing field. You could even dress your court in sports outfits for your surprise dance!

26. Southern Belle of the Ball

pinterest.com

Do you love everything Southern? Set your tables for a tea party  with pastel colors, parasols, and a dinner including fried chicken and sweet tea!

27. Steampunk

If you love the fantasy literature of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, a Steampunk Quinceanera could be right up your alley. Combine the feminine glamor of Victorian clothing with just a touch of gothic, and the sharp edges of machinery pieces in your centerpieces. For inspiration, watch the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen—which actually features a woman!

28. Superhero

Use your super powers to steal the show with a Super Hero Quinceanera! Take a cue from a DC Comics wedding trend and have a “Two-Faced” cake, then hire a facepaint artist for your photo booth.

Ask your choreographer to create a “group fight scene” for your surprise dance. Check this out for ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwMLs3sek6Q

29. Twilight

For a Twilight party Alice Cullen would be proud of, conjure up a dream evening with an immortal Quinceanera theme. And if you can recruit a truly romantic guy for your head chambelane, you can reenact the key Twilight movie stills for your photo shoot!

Check out this link for fabulous Twilight party ideas: http://www.kandykreations.net/2010_06_11_archive.html

30. Wizard of Oz

Follow the Yellow Brick Road! Dress for your ceremony in a deep blue Dorothy-inspired dress, carry a Yellow Brick Road bouquet, then add a super-tall tiara. Create a Munchkinland sweets table, build a photo booth with a green curtain like the Wizard himself, and add a touch of evil magic with Wicked Witch broom props.

Here’s a tutorial for authentic looking DIY ruby slippers: http://www.instructables.com/id/how-to-make-ruby-slippers-from-wizard-of-oz/

31. Lime & Glitter Zebra

For sure you’ve seen a lot of Quinceanera zebra prints in hot pink and black, but black and lime green is dazzling, and you can’t get any classier than classic black and white zebra print! This theme is easy to work with because you can use a lot of solids. Just scout your party supply stores for solid lime green supplies then put them together with black and white stripes.

As promised, there are our Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 2 – ten more of the most unique ideas our team could find.

Again, just use our keywords to do a search to find details on specifics—invitations and outfits, decorations, etc. Also, don’t just search for “galaxy theme Quinceanera.” Include a search for “galaxy party,” too. It couldn’t be easier!

Check out these top picks for the most charming, interesting, and original Quinceanera themes to make your day truly about you.

Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 2

11. Galaxy

https://www.quinceanera.com/decorations-themes/world-galaxy-themed-quinceanera/

If you’re a stargazer, or just have dreams that reach the stars, why not opt for a Quinceanera that’s literally out of this world? Think black and deep blue, twinkling stars on your dress and in your hair, fiber optics, and glittery decor all around.

12. The Hunger Games

Feed your Hunger Games fever and be Katniss Everdeen for a night. And how more perfect could any surprise dance be if it was choreographed to this amazing remix of “The Hanging Tree” from Mockingjay Part 1?! It’s even exactly the right length—just under 2 ½ minutes!

Click HERE or on the image below for the YouTube remix:

Note: It starts slow but picks up right away!

13. London Town

The Thronebox outside the British Museum in London.

This is absolutely not your usual Quince theme, but especially if you love the idea of a European theme, but don’t want Paris because you feel it’s been done too many times, then a London theme would be perfect for you. Decorate with Big Ben cutouts, tiny red phone booths, Union Jack flag photo booth, and wear a dress with a royal train.

Doll up your phone booth with flowers for the perfect photo-op!

Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 2

14. Literature & Latte

For a theme that expresses your nerdy but elegant side, take your Quinceanera inspiration from your love of books.

Any color scheme will work. Simply name your tables after your favorite titles, play trivia games with Shakespeare and other famous quotes, and decorate with reading glasses, loose pages from discarded library books, and centerpieces of books topped with a single candle or a nosegay of flowers.

And of course, have a knockout coffee bar with lattes and maybe even rent a cappuccino machine!

15. Lowrider

Transform your Corte de honor into a team of cholos and cholas.

Keep it classy with hats for the guys even with their formal ceremony wear and then change into coordinated outfits for your baile sopresa.

Arrive in style riding in a lowrider, and have your reception outdoors so your guests can show off their cars, too.

16. Miami Nice

Yes, we mean Miami Nice, not vice! Flamingoes, palm trees and a corte de honor dressed all in white will transform your Quince into an evening in South Beach. Choose tropical colors in any combination you like.

Click on the image to check out this website for Miami themed party supplies & decorations:

Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 2

17. Mexico

If you can’t celebrate your Quinceanera in Mexico, bring Mexico to you!

Go all out traditional with an all-male Corte de honor in sombreros, a mariachi band, and traditional Mexican food. Perhaps you’ll even be lucky enough to have someone in your family who can embroider your dress!

18. Murder Mystery

If you love reading a good murder mystery and have a little touch of the dramatic actress in you, consider a murder mystery Quince. You can wear a traditional white dress for your ceremony and outfit your court in a beautiful evening look for the ceremony and opening proceedings—tuxedos or white shirts, black ties and vests for the guys and a lovely outfit for the girls, maybe in a luxurious green satin—then change into 1920s attire for your surprise dance and the rest of the party.

For everything you need to know about throwing a great murder mystery event, plus free printables, CLICK on the IMAGE to check out this site:

19. Classical Music Quince

Do you play the piano or in your school’s orchestra, or sing, or just have a love of the classics? Then throw a classical music Quinceanera with a sheet music bouquet and boutonnieres, then decorate in white, black and red (or another rich jewel tone), and hire a live string quartet as part of the entertainment. And of course, they must play for your waltz!

Stunning & Unexpected Quinceanera Themes Part 2

20. Parasols

This is a great Quinceanera idea. It’s more a “direction” than a set theme because you don’t have to stick to just one style. You can have feather or lace parasols for your damas to carry for the procession and photos, use Japanese parasols in your surprise dance, and then choose paper parasols in your theme colors for centerpieces and other decorations.

CLICK on the IMAGE to check out Pearl River, the go-to place for everything parasol-related:

21. Pirates of the Quinceanera

A Pirate Quinceanera certainly isn’t traditional—but maybe you aren’t traditional! Use a simple black and red stripe color scheme against white with pirate flags, candles, treasure chests and fishing nets. Wear long gloves with your red and black dress.

CLICK on the IMAGE for inspiration from Riker Lynch’s paso doble on Dancing with the Stars and dance your baile sopresa to this perfect length version of the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean:

Your 15th birthday is unique & memorable so make your mementos just as unforgettable with these top 10 useful & creative Quinceanera favors.

Party favors today are unique, whimsical, always useful, and usually have a theme. Quinceaneras have themes, too, so it’s easy to choose favors to complement.

In addition to the ideas below, here are a couple more tips:

  • Buy in bulk & then DIY a personalized touch.
  • Research the top vendors selling cool party favors.
  • Think of the theme first, and then carefully consider exactly how useful the giveaway will be to your guests once the Quince is over.

So, just what are today’s top unique, whimsical, and always useful Quinceanera favors? Read on!

Top 10 Useful & Creative Quinceanera Favors: Beauty Treats

 #1 . Personalized Lip Balm

Lip balm makes great a party giveaway because it lasts. Plus, both girls and guys will use it.

  • If you have time, personalize labels with your friends’ names.
  • If you have less time, put them in little boxes with nametags.
  • For all lip balms, create a DIY label – just your name & the date of your Quince.
  • Leave them in pretty baskets on the guest tables.

#2. Small Hand Mirror

Your ladies will definitely love mirror compacts, but even the guys will use a mirror if you keep it super simple.

To personalize the ladies’ mirrors:

  • Make a label with your initials and the date for the back.
  • Glam up the front with DIY stick-on gems in your theme colors.

For the guys:

  • Get fogless shaving mirrors for the shower.
  • Put the Quince label on the back.

#3. Scented Candles

Candles are the easiest favors to give for any party, but if you want a candle favor with a kick:

  • Choose theme-shaped candles like surfboards for a summer Quince & ornament-type designs for holidays.
  • Personalize with color and ribbons, keep the scent in line with your theme & offer slightly different styles for guys & gals.
  • Choose softly scented candles for the girls with a simple ribbon wrap.
  • For the guys, get tiny jar candles in a dark masculine scent.

Top 10 Useful & Creative Quinceanera Favors: Edible Goodies

#4.  Cake Pops

If you want to give your guests a sweet surprise, delicious cake pops as take-homes are great.

You can order cake pops with colorful toppings to go with your theme. To make it convenient:

  • Give your guests mini boxes or cellophane bags—like those for slices of wedding cake—and stash the cake pops inside.
  • Have the boxes or bags personalized with your initials, date, and a logo if you want.
  • You could also serve cake pops stuck into the top of ice cream cones.
  • There are lots of designs and shapes to choose from, even pops shaped like cute puppy dog heads!

#5. Candies & Chocolates

In addition to a grand and glorious cake, a candy theme Quinceanera simply must have a candy buffet! These are all great:

  • Personalized mini plastic cups.
  • Cake slice bags or boxes so guests can collect the treats they want.
  • The candies themselves can also be personalized with a label with your name, date, and logo.

Fun tip: You can use candy bars for your court invitations to the Quince itself. Just print out a custom wrapper with all the party details! You won’t need more than a couple dozen, even if you’re having a full traditional 15 in your Corte de honor.

Top 10 Useful & Creative Quinceanera Favors: Decorative Reusable Storage

#6. Water Bottles

We have only one absolute don’t when it comes to personalized water bottles:

Do not make a label with a photo of your face.

Instead:

  • Print your name or initials & the date of your Quince.
  • Add a nice personalized logo if you want one.
  • Water bottles also come in different colors and sizes if you want to get even more creative.

#7. Mason Jars

Mason jars are hot these days, both for storage and as drinking glasses. They’re unisex, too, so guys will actually use them!

For mason jar party favors:

  • Make a little tag—like a sale tag from a store.
  • Add your initials &  the date.
  • Attach the labels to the jars with personalized ribbons for the girls, & a simple twine bow for the guys.

Top 10 Useful & Creative Quinceanera Favors: Durable Use-Again Treats

#8. Flip Flops

Quinceaneras are the one type of party that will always have dancing and a lot of goofing around, so flip flops as your Quince giveaway is the perfect idea.

You don’t even have to personalize them. Just order a selection in different unisex sizes and in colors to match your theme.

Parties on the beach are perfect for flip flops, but even for an indoor Quince, flip flops are great because your guests can change out of their high heels and leather dress shoes.

Flip flops are definitely a non-standard giveaway, but what a great surprise for your guests on your sweet 15!

#9. Sunglasses

Quinces held outdoors during the day or early afternoon mean more time in the sun. So to give your guests less squinting time, give them shades.

In addition to protecting everybody’s eyes during a hot sunny day, shades can look great with your court outfits, and the guys will definitely love sunglasses!

  • Find cheap shades that let you personalize the colors and styles.
  • Get simple aviators for the guys.
  • Get colorful framed shades for the ladies.

Both styles will be used long after the party.

Fun tip: If you want to make the shades special for your damas, wrap the bows of the sunglasses in thread or ribbon. You can even wrap bracelets to match!

#10. Hand Fans

If your venue is a beach or rustic garden, offer your guests personalized fans to keep cool.

  • A fan is one favor that is truly handy and very useful long after the party is over.
  • If you’re having an intimate gathering, ask your vendor if he or she can have the names of your guests printed on the fans.
  • You can also DIY a label or sticker with your initials and the date.

When it comes to your Quince celebration, centerpieces are the key & our Top Tips for Quinceanera Centerpieces & Head Table can help.

What do you love?

  • Flowers?
  • Balloons?
  • Candles?
  • Mini chandeliers?

Whatever suits your taste & personality, always keep in mind your party theme and colors.

Once you have your theme, start scouting for ideas for fabulous centerpieces and ideas to make your head table the perfect focal point—and you can start right here!

Top Tips for Quinceanera Centerpieces & Head Table

Height is everything

Floral Arranement Size Chart

In order to avoid blocking your guests’ sightline (which will be a serious hindrance to conversation) keep in mind these two important guidelines:

  • Tall centerpieces must be higher than your guests’ heads.
  • Low centerpieces must be lower than your guests’ chins.

Your centerpieces must coordinate with your tablecloths and any chair decorations. Hint: If you make sure every single detail complements the others, your theme will fall into place without you having to think too much about it!

Think minimalist: Less is More

pinterest.com

pinterest.com

Minimalism is one of the most successful trends in both event planning and interior design because it naturally helps create an elegant atmosphere. When it comes to your Quince, apply this rule by either using only 1 or 2 different colors or single solid color vases—wine bottles, metallic flower vases, white ceramic vases, etc.—or do one dramatic vase with colorful flowers or decorative plants.

Tip: Here’s a tutorial for gorgeous tall centerpieces you can make in only 5 minutes! Click HERE or on the image below for DIY Elegant Quinceanera Centerpiece in Less Than 5 Minutes:

Use statement flowers

The idea is to either use one or two big statement blooms or to use smaller, less expensive flowers but in groups sort of like a tight wedding bouquet in a vase. The most popular flowers these days are lilies, daisies, hydrangeas, and tulips. Heliconia is also popular for Quinces with a tropical flavor.

If you still want an over-the-top look, use tall crystal vases. They give a sophisticated air and make it look as if the flowers are floating in the air.

Top Tips for Quinceanera Centerpieces & Head Table

Create a visual effect

If flowers aren’t your thing, there are still a ton of options. Go for crystal figurines, candles, mirrors, maybe even origami. The idea is to keep the look contemporary and really make a statement.

Top Tips for Quinceanera Centerpieces & Head Table

Head Table Tricks of the Trade:

Again, the key phrase when it comes to your head table is less is more. But this time, you want that “less” to be bigger and more dramatic. Here are some of the top tricks used by event planners to make a knockout head table:

  1. DIY a standout backdrop: These are easier than you think and can be as simple as ribbons strung on a PVC pipe frame.
  2. Raise the height: Put your head table up on a stage (hint: you can DIY a low stage using shipping pallets).
  3. Add color: This is where using 2 colors in your theme can really make things pop.
  4. Add lighting: DIY Christmas lights under a transparent curtain, or ask either your event coordinator or your local party supply store about uplighting using colored bulbs to match your theme.
  5. Use your name or initial: Create either your full name or your first initial, nice and big, in flowers, glitter or lights, either centered behind the table or as a dramatic centerpiece.
  6. Use fancier linens: Think embroidered tablecloths, gathered and pintuck skirting, and big floral prints or stripes.
  7. Use big flower arrangements: Put an oversized arrangement on a pedestal on either side of your table. You want the total height at least 6 feet, taller if you can.

But before you say, “I can’t afford great big flower arrangements,” keep reading…

Top Tips for Quinceanera Centerpieces & Head Table

How to Stretch your Quinceanera Flower Dollar:

It’s not uncommon to pick out a gorgeous array of flowers and arrangements for your Quince, then practically have a fainting spell when you see the potential bill. That can be a huge disappointment, so before you visit your florist, think about your budget. Flowers can be expensive but here are 8 of the top tips for having gorgeous Quinceanera flowers while still keeping your budget under control.

Tip #1: Use seasonal & local Quinceanera flowers

Ask your florist about locally-grown roses instead of tulips that need to be flown in all the way from Holland.

Tip #2: Choose the biggest blooms you can find

The bigger the flower, the fewer you’ll need, and that goes for all of your Quinceanera flowers. You can make everything pop—your bouquet, your centerpieces and the attention-grabbing arrangements on your head table—if you use large blooms.

Tip #3: Switch out pricey flowers for cost-effective ones

Here’s a general price range for flowers from highest to lowest:

  • Most expensive: Orchids, peonies, lily of the valley
  • Still pricey: Roses, anemones, tulips, ranunculus, calla lilies, stephanotis, lisianthus
  • More cost-effective: Chrysanthemum, cosmos, daisies, dahlias

Tip #4: Use only 2 varieties of flowers

The more flower varieties you use, the higher your florist bill. But if you can stick to 2 statement flowers, your florist can order in bulk. You’ll have a lower charge for labor, too. Every type of flower has to be handled differently, but if your florist’s staff only has to deal with 2 varieties, they can put your arrangements together quicker.

Hint: Take a cue from this wedding—they did all the flowers DIY by ordering in bulk from Sam’s Club! http://diywhyspendmore.blogspot.com/2014/03/flowers-from-sams-club-for-wedding.html

Tip #5: Make your bouquet do double-duty

You’ll want to take plenty of pictures of your Quince bouquet, but you don’t have to leave it at the altar. When you arrive at your venue, either put your bouquet on your head table as a centerpiece or on your cake table for a dash of color.

Tip #6: Bulk out your arrangements with greens like ivy and leatherleaf

Every flower pops in front of lush greens, Ask your florist to show you some arrangements using greens as the majority of the filler.

Tip #7: Use oversized and unique greens like giant fern leaves, space-filling fresh or dried baby’s breath, or non-floral decor like feathers.

Especially if you want tall table centerpieces, you’ll want something that takes up some air space above each table. And for your head table, things like ferns and feathers will move gently in the air, making your head table even more eye-catching than it already is.

Tip #8: Artificial flowers rock!

You don’t need every flower to be fragrant. In fact, a room full of carnations and roses can be overpowering. Hydrangeas are one of the best artificial flowers you can buy because they’re the one fake flower that comes in just about any color you want to match any theme and they don’t look artificial! As soon as you have your theme color, start watching your local craft stores for sales.

Hint: The best thing about artificial flowers is that they last so you can use them again! And if you don’t use them yourself, you can share the wealth with you sister Quinceanera whose party is a few weeks or months after yours.

Traditional or modern, there is one unbreakable rule for all all Quinceanera Menu Themes & Fun Ideas: Serve good food and serve plenty of it!

Originally, the idea behind a Quinceanera celebration was to “celebrate” that the birthday girl had learned to cook and clean and perform other household skills in order to snag a good husband. (Aren’t you glad those days are over?!)

Modern Quinceaneras are far different, but the one thing that will never change is the rule on lots & lots of great food.

While you most likely won’t have to cook your own feast, you will have to choose a menu that will please your particular crowd. You may want all traditional, or switch things up.

To get you started thinking, we’ve put together a super-simple primer with menu items that can add either a classic touch or a contemporary twist to your Quince feast.

(But you don’t have to cook any of them unless you want to!)

Quinceanera Menu Themes & Fun Ideas: Traditional Quinceanera Menu

There are certain foods unique to a traditional Quince that you won’t find in other cultures. Here are a few of the classics:

Cabrito: A classic dish that originated in Monterrey, Mexico, cabrito consists of a young goat that’s cooked on a spit over a slow-burning charcoal fire. This gives the meat its classic smoky taste and also makes it more tender.

Picadillo: A combination of minced beef, tomatoes, peppers, and onion, sometimes also with peas, carrots, or potatoes. Serve picadillo by itself or use as filling for tacos, burritos, or tamales. It’s also often served with rice and/or tortillas.

Dessert: In addition to your cake, there are several customary Latino sweets. Here are two classics to get you started:

  • Arroz (creamy rice pudding)
  • Pan de Polvo (Mexican shortbread cookies with cinnamon and anise, often dusted with powdered sugar)
For a Hispanic Buffet: Serve rice, beans, tortillas, enchiladas, tostadas, and tacos.

Other traditional options:

  • Green salad
  • Tortilla chips and guacamole
  • Chicken, pork and, cheese tamales
  • Carne asada and al pastor tacos
  • Pozole or Menudo
  • Rice and beans
  • Pan dulce, conchas, and churros

Quinceanera Menu Themes & Fun Ideas:

Take your Quince Feast International!

If you just adore a particular ethnic food group, why not serve it at your Quince?! Here are some popular international menu ideas, some of which you can make at home.

Greek Theme Quinceanera

If there’s one culture famous for unique food, it’s Greece. The most common is the gyros, a combo of beef and lamb roasted on a spit. It’s the one thing that will make your Quince absolutely Greek!

Here are some other ideas for a Greek menu:

  • Gyros (of course!)
  • Kabobs
  • Greek salad with feta cheese
  • Stuffed grape leaves
  • Moussaka (baked eggplant & beef)
  • Pastitsio (Greek lasagna)

Oriental Quince Menu

Take inspiration from your favorite Chinese takeout or Japanese restaurant:

  • Sushi station (you could even hire a real sushi chef!)
  • Egg Rolls
  • Lo mein (noodles with vegetables)
  • Chicken or beef with oyster sauce
  • Fried rice
  • Almond cookies

Parisian Quinceanera Menu

Take your guests to The City of Lights with your Quinceanera menu. Here are a few classic French dishes:

  • Salad nicoise (beautifully arranged platters of vegetables in a light dressing)
  • Melon and ham brochette
  • French onion soup
  • Baked brie
  • Chicken Cordon Bleu
  • Steak Bearnaise

Quinceanera Menu Themes & Fun Ideas:

Seafood Feast

Especially if you’ve chosen an under the sea theme for your Quince, select a menu that’s also an ocean adventure!

  • Clam chowder
  • Shrimp skewers
  • Sesame seed crusted tuna steak
  • Grilled cedar plank salmon
  • Stuffed lobster tails
  • Fried Marlin tacos
  • Crab cake tater tots

Wild West Quinceanera

This is a great menu for casual Quinces. These dishes also make for a great potluck feast:

  • Coleslaw
  • Fruit salad
  • Mashed potatoes with gravy
  • Barbecue Pulled pork
  • Sliced Beef Brisket
  • Green beans
  • Cornbread

Quinceanera Menu Themes & Fun Ideas:

Let Them Eat Cake!

No matter what else you plan to serve your guests, the one thing that is always included in a Quinceanera is an ultra-fancy cake, not unlike an intricate wedding cake. And again, the style of the cake should go with your theme and the other types of food you serve at your reception.

Traditional Staircase Quinceanera Cake

The traditional Quince cake has multiple tiers with staircases and a small Quinceanera doll on top. Miniature figures line the stairs representing the birthday girl’s court of honor. But there are plenty of other options.

Greek Quinceanera Cake

Choose just about any cake you want but consider a touch of blue frosting like the Greek flag.  Tthen decorate with strands of laurel or gold leaves.

For sure, add to your sweets table baklava—layers of filo dough rich with honey and nuts—and a Portokalopita. This is a traditional Greek yogurt cake with orange syrup.

Click HERE or on the image below for a scrumptious Portokalopita you can make at home:

Oriental Quinceanera Cake

Make your cake a Chinese New Year dragon and then order fortune cookies with your own personal message!

Click HERE or on the image below for custom fortune cookies from Cookie Planet:

Parisian Quinceanera Dessert Ideas

For sure, add eclairs and madeleines to your sweets table. Or skip the “cake” altogether and go with a traditional French delicacy—a croquembouche—a pyramid of either small pastry balls or macarons filled with vanilla cream. If nothing else, be sure to add one to your sweets table!

Seaside Quinceanera Cupcakes

Decorate your cake with shells, fishing net, and starfish, then serve a tower of seashell cupcakes decorated with brown sugar and molded candy seashells.

Click HERE or on the image below on how to make the candy shells at home:

Wild West Quinceanera Cupcakes

Then top it with a show-stopping single layer cake decorated to a stunning extreme!

Click HERE or on the image below for how to make the cupcakes plus other Wild West Quinceanera theme ideas:

The possibilities are endless! Whatever theme you may choose for your Quinceanera reception, what matters most is that your party is enjoyed by everyone—but most of all you!

When it comes to your Quinceanera colors, choices can be difficult, but knowing How to Avoid the Top 10 Quince Color Mistakes can really help.

You may not be having any trouble choosing your Quinceanera colors—or you may be struggling to figure out exactly what you want. Either way, there are a few guidelines to follow.

For sure you want your photos to look amazing, and it’s the little things that make all the difference when it comes to color planning. These top 10 mistakes can help you avoid both the major and the minor Quince color scheme blunders so you can have a gorgeous Quince and gorgeous photos!

How to Avoid the Top 10 Quince Color Mistakes

#1: Thinking you Have to Choose Seasonal Colors

Christmas Quinces do not have to be red and green. Winter Quinces don’t need to be ice blue. And spring, summer, and fall don’t need to have just pastels, or just bright “summery” colors, or only “autumn” tones of brown, orange and brick red.

Think outside the box. If you just love a particular color palette but it’s “not in season” go for it anyway! Then customize it a little to make it fit. Forget what color things are “supposed to be” and make them your own—like a turquoise Christmas tree!

Source: Pinterest

If summer sunflower yellow and brown feels awkward in March or November, tone it down to either golden yellow and copper brown, or lighten it up to soft lemon yellow and tan.

For a Christmas Quince, try either a pastel palette or the “new” jewel tone holiday colors of lime green, purple, and hot pink or raspberry.

They’ll look gorgeous especially if you use trees in your decor decorated with traditional red and green plus lime and a pop of purple and pink.

Quince Color Mistake #2: Thinking you Have to Use a Traditional Color Scheme

Dare to be different. Just because you want a traditional Mexican Quince doesn’t mean you need to stick to red, white and green. Throw in a healthy dose of gold as an accent or choose gold metallic dama dresses. You could also go with a rainbow palette like Dia de Los Muertos.

Source: Pinterest

Likewise, a Quince planned on or near the 4th of July will look “ordinary and predictable” if you use standard red, white and blue. To mix it up, deepen the red and change the shade of blue. Go with a rich cranberry red and a blue with a little purple in it like cobalt.

How to Avoid the Top 10 Quince Color Mistakes

#3: Using Too Many Colors without a Neutral

Even if you’re going with a deep dark rainbow palette like a Dia de Los Muertos theme, or the bright primary color stripes of a traditional Mexican Quince, don’t get carried away and use multi-colored everything.

Source: Pinterest

Use the rainbow effects in a few prints as accents in the table linens and maybe your chambelanes’ bow ties and offset with single-color centerpieces. Then set eveything off with either solid white or solid black.

You can also go the opposite and have solid color linens and fabrics while making the rainbow colors pop in the floral arrangements.

Pro tip: Experts recommend that you go with no more than 2 to 4 main colors, then add neutrals, white, and definitely green foliage for a cohesive and professional look.

Quince Color Mistake #4: Not Giving your Vendors a Specific Color Sample

Especially when it comes to flowers and your cake, if you tell your florist and baker your theme is “purple and pink” or “green and peach” without giving them either a photograph, a fabric swatch, or something like a color chip with the exact shade you want for each color, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise when you walk into your venue.

Tip: One of the easiest things to do is to give each vendor a paint color chip with the shade you want.

How to Avoid the Top 10 Quince Color Mistakes

#5: Making Every Shade Match

Source: Sarah Renae Clark

No matter what your color scheme, make sure to vary the intensity and even the hue of your colors, especially if you’re going monochromatic. You don’t want to order the napkins, flowers, invitations, and giveaway bags in the exact same shade.

For instance, if your primary color is blue, mix and match a little by using royal blue, navy blue, cobalt blue, and periwinkle.

Quince Color Mistake #6: Using Only Two Colors

Believe it or not, it’s possible to not use enough different colors for your Quince.

Source: IBY Beauty

Even if you want a monochromatic (one color) color scheme, you don’t want to use just your favorite color plus white. Make it rich my adding 2 or 3 neutrals like ivory or dove gray into the color scheme, then use plenty of greenery in your flowers.

Tip: To make decorations like balloon bouquets or arches pop, add a touch of fresh or silk greens or add zing with metallic ribbons.

How to Avoid the Top 10 Quince Color Mistakes

#7: Forgetting to Use Texture

Have you ever seen a wedding—or a Quince—where all the attendants are dressed in just satin? Satin dresses, shoes dyed to match (which gives them a satiny sheen) and satin vests and ties on the guys? It’s all “shiny” right? That’s because there’s a lack of texture to the fabrics.

The easiest way to get a start on texture is with your Quinceanera dress.

To see more details Click HERE for Q by DaVinci Style 80476

The way to solve that problem with your court is to add texture to the materials. You can mix up the bodices and skirts of your damas’ dresses by using a combination of chiffon, metallic, glitter, velvet, even cotton, in addition to—or instead of—either all shiny or all matte fabrics.

You can also add texture to your color scheme by mixing in stripes, prints, polka dots, florals, stripes, chevron, or floral prints. In this case, it’s not the finish of the fabric that creates “texture” but the pattern that breaks up the “flatness” and creates the texture effect.

Quince Color Mistake #8: Ignoring the Colors of the Venue

The last thing you want is to have a color scheme of orange and brown in a venue with rose pink carpet! There are essentially three ways to solve this problem:

  1. Choose your venue first then choose your color scheme to complement the venue.
  2. Choose your color scheme first then find a venue that will work.
  3. Book a super-neutral venue like a church hall, VFW or Knights of Columbus hall, or a hotel ballroom that’s all completely neutral shades like beige carpet and white or ivory walls—a venue that’s essentially a “blank slate” that you can decorate at your whim.

How to Avoid the Top 10 Quince Color Mistakes

#9: Forcing Your Flowers to Match

Source: Pinterest

If you choose a color theme that uses shades that don’t typically come in natural flowers, don’t dye everything to match. The biggest mistake—and this always looks fake—is to have flowers like carnations dyed blue or purple or some other color that isn’t natural to the bloom.

It also looks fake to have too many silk flowers in non-natural colors. A few are fine for accent, but do your best to use flower colors that grow naturally.

Some blooms do come in unusual colors, but only at certain times of the year. For instance, hydrangeas are available in blue but only in certain seasons. If you can get them at all, you’ll pay a lot extra.

The solution is to use a complementary color or a neutral then add a pop of your theme color in the ribbons or in a vase, etc.

Color Blunder #10: Making your Court Exactly Match your Theme

Here’s another time that borrowing ideas for bridesmaids dresses comes in handy.

Source: Pinterest

You probably already know not to put your court in “costumes” except for the surprise dance, right? Also be careful not to dress them in colors that are too “neon” or “crayon” to look good against the skin. For instance, sunny yellow, orange, hot pink and olive green are gorgeous for table linens and napkins, but they don’t necessarily make for good clothing colors.

To avoid this, you can either tone down the brightness and use pale lemon yellow, peach, soft rose of mauve and sage green for your court, then use a pop of color in the boutonnieres and maybe even your damas’ shoes.

You do not need to have a Grinch party to have a beautiful holiday Quince. All you need to do is break The Green Rule: Use lime green instead of a traditional dark pine tree or hunter green. Then make use of Mother Nature’s apple bounty and add a dash of DIY creativity. The easiest way to change the flavor of a Christmas or holiday Quince is to pick an unexpected color for your dress. Choose a gorgeous lime green gown from our Q by DaVinci collection, and that’ll set the stage. Then follow our 10 easy steps, and you can pull off a designer Quince in no time!

1. Decide on a Dress

Ditch the expected pine tree green and go with an eye-catching lime green dress. It’ll totally pop against any traditional decorations you choose. All of our dresses are created with top quality fabrics and high-end construction and are as comfortable as can be. You’ll love the elegant designs but what you’ll love even more is the affordable price!

Great news: You can order a Q by DaVinci dress and have it in just a few days!

Here are the styles, left to right:

  • Glitter Organza (also available in Turquoise): Style #80254
  • Diagonal Organza with Black Embroidery: Style #2354
  • Rosettes with Crystal Bodice: Style #2373

Note: Styles #2354 and 2373 are also available in all of these colors:

  • Apple, Shamrock, Teal, Aqua, Turquoise, Tiffany, Seamist, Indigo, Royal, Dark Fuchsia, Fuchsia, Red, Claret, Flamingo, Pink, Melon, Burnt Orange, Orange, Bubble Gum, Cerise, Purplish, Aubergine, Lilac, Lavender, Champagne, Gold, Yellow, White, Ivory, Black, Silver

2. Set Your Table Simply

Don’t agonize over fancy table linens.  All you need is a standard white tablecloth, a standard tablecloth in lime green for accent, and a long roll of red ribbon.

3. Gather a Bushel of Apples

Gorgeous green and red apples—Granny Smith for green and any type of red apple you like—make lovely “vases” for a single green cushion mum. Create votive candle holders to scatter around a centerpiece that’s a simple basket or crate with a table number marker in the middle, and you’re good to go—and the apples can go home with your guests!

4. Do Something Different for your Cake

Order—or make—a tie dye cake to cut, then serve matching pound cake on the side as a creative alternative to cupcakes.  But if you just adore cupcakes, then go one step more and serve Holiday Velvets cupcakes.

These have the taste of red velvet but with gorgeous holiday coloring and they’re made from a box mix! Here’s the easy DIY tutorial: https://www.duncanhines.com/recipes/cupcakes/Duncan%20Hines%C2%AE/holiday-velvets-cupcakes/

5. Craft Quick & Useful Favors

Grab a bunch of clear Christmas ball ornaments and stuff them with whatever you like—simple to fancy, whimsical to lovely—anything you want goes!

Here’s a link to 21 different clear ornament designs: http://b-inspiredmama.com/homemade-christmas-ornaments-ball/#_a5y_p=4754812

6. Raid the Ornament Box for Your Bouquet

Make a simple bouquet out of Christmas tree decorations. You can stick to ornamental balls and a little bow. Or if you want fresh, you can go with monochromatic lime green flowers to match your dress:

7. Color Match Your Menu

This is one aspect of your green and red Quince that’s a snap. Ask your family and friends to chip in for a homemade buffet of bright green guacamole, red and green salsa, and fajitas with red and green peppers.

  • This recipe is super easy—you just bake the fajitas in the oven!

Check this out: Here’s an excellent primer on different menus for a tasty Quinceanera. https://qbydavinci.com/blog/quinceanera-menu-primer-quick-tips-for-your-quince-feast/

8. Simplify your Sweets Table

Hit up the Christmas candy sale aisle of your favorite grocery store, then snag simple, clear glass containers from the dollar store. Mix up the candies with red and green together, then do a few containers with each color only.

9. Tie One On

Make your life simple and easy with super quick DIY candy cane place cards, make ribbon bunting, then buy cool ties for your chambelanes.

  • 3 Candy Canes + 1 Ribbon = 1 Perfect Little Placecard

Just tie 3 candy canes together and then either set a card with the guest’s name or a simple greeting.

  • Easy Ribbon Skirting

Tie lengths of ribbon to a fishing line or twine, or even a sturdy ribbon, then pin it to your head table.

  • Tie Up Your Chambelanes

Outfit your chambelanes in simple style with a chevron and polka dot tie. All they need is a white shirt and dress slacks, and they’re good to go!

10. Personalize the Entire Party

Put up one gorgeous tree and top it with a lime green bow and your initial. Or make a simple wreath with your initial and hang it in the center of your head table.

Does your family love coffee? If so, then especially during the holidays when everyone comes to visit, you’ll end up with dozens of K-Cups so why not turn them into Quinceanera favors?! It doesn’t matter if your Quince is coming up in just a couple of weeks, or if you want to work ahead for next year. Make the most of family time by getting all those relatives who’ve come to visit to help you make one of these incredibly creative K-cup crafts. You can even let your younger relatives help with at least one of these!

1. K-Cup Bath Bombs

What could be more perfect as a giveaway than a mini-spa in the form of a delightful bath bomb? This is a wonderful giveaway for everyone because you can use different essential oils. Lavender, orange or peppermint is recommended, but why not try a batch for the guys using bergamot or sandalwood? (If they don’t want to take a bath, they can let it bubble up on the shower floor!)

All it takes is K-Cups and a few household ingredients like baking soda, corn starch, Epsom salts, and a couple of other things.  For the ladies, add some dried flower petals or colored sugar sprinkles if you wish.

For the complete recipe and instructions, click here: http://www.coupons.com/thegoodstuff/relax-and-recycle-with-k-cup-diy-bath-bombs/?pp=1#

2. Jeweled Air Plant Planters

These take a little more work but aren’t they gorgeous?! You can also use fake air plants if you want but the real thing is just too pretty!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Empty K-cups
  • Mini Air Plants
  • Spray Paint
  • Spanish Moss
  • Fishing line or clear beading thread
  • Straight Pins
  • Washers
  • Beads or prisms

And here are the directions: http://werefarfromnormal.com/2016/05/up-cycled-k-cup-planters.html

3. Miniature Succulent Pots

This is one project your youngest relatives can help you with since it doesn’t involve anything sharp. You can set up these little pots ahead of time and store them—everything but the dirt, that is—then get your little succulents a week or two before your Quince.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • K-Cups
  • Twine or string
  • Brown paper or interesting packing paper
  • Dirt or succulent planting soil
  • Succulents (each cup gets just a trimming)

Note: You can also use faux succulents and Spanish moss if you want to make complete pots a few months ahead.

Here’s how to make them: http://www.carolynshomework.com/2016/04/upcycling-k-cup-succulent-pots.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/RiGgi+(homework)

Bonus #1: Cool & Quick Centerpiece

Group your little plant cups on a beautiful mirror or tray for a centerpiece—one plant for each guest—then have your guests take the plants home on their way out at the end of the reception.

Bonus #2: Faux Succulent Pens

If you used fake succulents, take the extras and make pens. All you need are straight ink pens, a little glue and florist tape. Then you can put the pens in a flower pot by your guest book!

Here’s a tutorial for the flower pot pens: http://www.ehow.com/how_12340491_make-faux-succulent-pen-planter.html?utm_source=pinterest.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=inline&utm_campaign=fanpage&crlt.pid=camp.Vpz5EycoSfLJ&crlt.pid=camp.VqSovEH0W0Qw

Whether you’re planning your Christmas Quince at the last minute, need a few ideas for extras for your winter Sweet 15, or if you just want to get a jump on your upcoming Quince for next year, there are so many ways to make holiday traditions work for your party. Here are 15 creative ideas for things to repurpose, make ahead, or collect during your school vacations and have ready either in a hurry or for next year’s Quinceanera celebration.

1. Collect Nature’s Decorations

Autumn leaves, acorns, pine branches—all of these make for lovely centerpieces and can be used in your bouquet! Pinecones alone can be painted and used in many beautiful ways.

Tip: All of those pretty pinecone ideas shown came from this one site! http://www.sortra.com/36-brilliant-diy-decoration-ideas-with-pinecones/

2. Choose Holiday Ornaments to Match your Theme

https://happythought.co.uk/mexican-paper-craft-decorations

You can make Mexican-style star ornaments with this great tutorial: https://happythought.co.uk/mexican-paper-craft-decorations

Or you can pre-plan your table decorations by choosing different colors and/or styles of ornaments. Then collect enough according to the number of guests tables you plan to have. If you don’t know for sure, then collect perhaps 2 dozen of each and spread the extras around your venue.

3. Bargain Hunt for Mini-Lights & Fairy Lights

http://www.fabmood.com/wedding-light-decorations/

Pre-holiday sales, leftover Black Friday bargains, and dollar stores are great places to look. Just gather as many light strings as you can. Trust us—if you have them, you’ll use them!

4. Consider Vintage Holiday Cards for Invitations

You don’t need to find enough cards for each guest. Just find one design that you like, then scan it and make your own invitations.

Pro tip: Use the same technique to make your Quinceanera invitations out of the vintage card as you would if you used your own original artwork. Here’s a complete tutorial with everything you need to know: https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2014/09/drawing-greeting-cards/

5. Borrow Your Family’s Decorations

Pine tree branches, wreaths, garlands, old ornaments, leftover wrapping paper from last year—everything can be used to decorate your tables, your venue, or make favors for your guests.

Tip: Scout thrift stores and dollar stores for vintage and vintage-looking ornaments!

6. Serve your Family’s Holiday Menu

Serve your guests a traditional holiday menu with a Latin twist! Here are a few ideas for fabulous holiday entrees and treats perfect for a holiday Quinceanera feast:

  • Tamales de Navidad
  • Pavo Relleno (Stuffed Roasted Turkey)
  • Pineapple-Mango Glazed Ham
  • Pastel de Quinoa (Quinoa Sausage Casserole)
  • Mango Pineapple Cranberry Sauce
  • Cheesy Mashed Yuca
  • Colombian Bunuelos and Natilla
  • Panettone (Holiday Fruitcake)
  • Pan de Pascua (Chilian Holiday Fruitcake)
  • Pan de Jamon (Venezuelan Ham & Olive Bread)

Here are all the recipes for those goodies: http://southamericanfood.about.com/od/holidayrecipes/tp/SouthAmericanChristmasMenu.htm

7. Build a Pop Holiday Music Dance Set

Use classics from the Nutcracker Ballet score for your entrance. Do your surprise dance to the golden oldie “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” And for sure, build a dance mix including these updated holiday  classics for a fabulous non-stop set:

  • “Jingle Bells” by Paul T.
  • “Come O Come Emmanuel” by Groovecatcher
  • “Feliz Navidad” by Lenny B. with David Verbist
  • “White Christmas” by Breakout Sister
  • “Sleigh Ride” by TLC

8. Collect Candles

Regular wax candles will be on sale, but so will the ultra-safe battery-operated kind. Luminara candles are stunning in a centerpiece. Add a few acorns in dollar store vases, and you’ve got one gorgeous tablescape!

9. Repurpose Empty Wine Bottles

Ask your friends and family to save their holiday wine bottles. Then use spray paint or glitter to make them perfect vases for your centerpieces. You can make them simple and pretty or totally silly!

10. Scout Cost-Effective Grapevine Wreaths

Mini wreaths are great around a single taper or column candle. Medium size wreaths can surround a table decoration grouping of candles or another tablescape. Large wreaths look great on the doors of your venue or hung as a focal point on the front of your head table

11. Have a Cookie Decorating Station

Instead of the traditional S’mores station, why not have sugar cookies already baked then provide icing, colored sugar and sprinkles.

Tip: To make it easier and less messy, have store-bought tubes and spray cans of frosting (like cans of whipped cream) rather than open tubs of icing. Or just put your icing in squeeze bottles!

12. Mini Tree Centerpieces

You can always use tall, slender pre-lit battery operated trees to add sparkle, but how about something different? Like these vintage look bottle brush trees:

Here’s a tutorial for those beautiful little trees:

These miniature trees—made from pinecones, tiny terra cotta pots and decorated with pearl ornaments and little stars are super simple.

And who says a holiday “tree” needs to be pine? Why not bonsai?!

13. Jingle Bells All the Way

Nothing says “Holiday celebration!” like bells. Tie them on your giveaways, make jingle bell garlands for decor. Or follow this fabulous photo tutorial for how to make “antique” bells out of super-cheap dollar store bells, a concoction of glue and paint, and a little gold glitter: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/574842339910154153/

14. Make a Christmas Pinata

You can opt for one big pinata and let everyone take a swing, or enjoy the traditional fun in miniature:

Here’s a tutorial with 35 DIY pinatas, all different shapes and sizes, and all with complete tutorials! Check them out here: http://www.coolcrafts.com/pinata-idea/

15. For a Sacred Touch, Serve Epiphany Bread

Here’s a delicious recipe for the traditional sweet bread: http://www.latinofoodie.com/featured-blog-posts/celebrate-dia-de-los-reyes-rosca-de-reyes/

But if you don’t want to go all out, you can still serve Rosca de Reyes cupcakes!

However you choose to decorate your Christmas or holiday Quince, as you’re collecting decor and ideas, just think “family holiday joy.” Besides, what’s a Quince all about if not families who are joyful about your most important birthday?!
